One more game
Nov. 13th, 2005 06:04 pmDown to Port Colborne today to play for the Niagara Vintage against the evil NOBs. It was a long day. Picking up and dropping off team-mates in Mississauga turned it into a two hour drive each way.
The game itself was pretty good. I played the whole game in the back row which means, once again, I'm seriously tired and not a little battered. The NOBs had a huge pack and it was very much to our credit that we held off their forward drives, won a fair amount of turnover ball and set up our pretty capable backs often enough to win the game reasonably comfortably. For me personally it was very much a work rate game, not that that's unusual. I don't think I can recall any point at which i did anything particularly spectacular but I know that i was in their face all afternoon and generally helped pressure them into screwing up things they shouldn't have screwed up. In particular, they were sloppy at protecting at the back of the lineout which allowed me to hurry their half backs into errors pretty consistently. I think I did my fair share of stealing the ball at the breakdown too.
All in all a satisfactory run and now we are down to pick up games at the Cru as long as weather permits.
