Home-made soup wouldn't stay warm until lunchtime even in a flask though, and I have no cooking facilities at work. Not even a kettle or a microwave. I could probably persuade the canteen to give me a cup of hot water, but that's my lot. And even then I'd have to use the sinks in the loos to wash my cup.
It would be less annoying if it were a real canteen with a wide choice of foods: the canteen where I used to work was really good. But here it's just a little sandwich bar that also does soup.
