Why the healthcare system frustrates me

Today I had a 2pm appointment at the fracture clinic to follow up on my AC separation. At approximately 4.30 pm I found myself in the treatment room looking at my X-ray on the PACS system. At about 5pm I got seen by the specialist's sidekick, the great man having apparently been called away to something else. He told me I had a shoulder separation. He said he would have to consult with the big cheese to decide if surgery was necessary. I asked about any rehab exercises etc I might be doing and was told just to keep the arm immobilised and to come back in two weeks. All in all, a total waste of time. This was at one of Toronto's U of T affiliated teaching hospitals. I simply can't imagine how the system could be less efficient.
