Last night was
lemur_catta's first show with the Pillow Fight League.
ajhalluk is in town and agreed to come along so I picked her up at her hotel and headed to Chinatown for a bowl of pho before heading off to The Vatikan which is a horrible dive. That said we were there just before the doors opened so we got great seats. This turned out to be important because the place was packed by fight time and a lot of people must have had a really crappy view.
The show was fun. They did a good schtick on taking the piss out of the WWE etc. There were fourteen "pros" fighting plus a few "amateur" performances by girls from the audience. The whole thing is of course extremely silly but great fun. Who could not like two good looking girls in scanty costumes catfighting with pillows? The bouts were distinctly energetic, the girls were obviously having fun getting into their silly characters and the audience was appropriately raucous. (FWIW, there were at least as many women as men in the audience). Besides one on one fights there were foursomes and the final Pillow Fight Scramble where all fourteen pros started on the mat and were eliminated by being forced off it. It reminded me of some of the stuff we used to do in gym at school but with more interesting underwear.
lemur_catta aka Hissy Fitts was suitably feline and even had an audience member look after her cat toys for her. Youll be glad to know she avoided serious injury. I have to say that for someone rapidly approaching mumble, mumble, mumble she looked pretty damn hot.
I imagine the turn out will encourage the organisers to persist with the idea and there is apparently another show in August (hopefully at a less scuzzy venue). Considering it was a filthy night a lot of people came out to watch including a good sprinkling of the lemur's friends. No news on a TV deal yet
